At that, time there was some discrimination in the union.

They were teaching us how to make machines. I was in college for two days and I was at work for three days, this was for under 20 year olds. When we were employed by management people objected and asked why coloured people have been employed. Those people threatened them that they would strike. Therefore, the management said that we could work as cleaners instead in the foundry. We always used to get unskilled work. I worked as a cleaner; I was not strong enough to work at the foundry. I was doing cleaning and also making tea for the skilled workers twice a day. Sohan Singh Cheema came to Coventry 1954
