Joginder Singh came to Coventry 1956 PDF Print E-mail

There was discrimination, our people did not get the top jobs, and new generation is educated and have got the top jobs.

The main aspect of that was people had spread the world that Punjabis are very hard working. The mangers only wanted to employ the Punjabi.

I had to show the manger my certificate, that I had achieved working as an apprentice… He asked me whether I like days or nights. I told him that my friend was on nights and I like nights. I was paid £10-11 a week out of which my rent, food and beer was £3. So I was able to save about £40 a month, which was only 40 Rupees at that time. Joginder Singh came to Coventry 1956
